וולוס וחצי האי פליון Volos and Pelion

30 דק' נסיעה מאלמירוס לאורך קו החוף ,בדרך ממנה נשקפים נופים מדהימים וכפרים פסטורליים מגיעים לעיר המרכזית של האזור, וולוס-volos השוכנת לצידו של הים האיגאי .

עיר מקסימה שדבר אינו מזכיר את ההפיכות והנזקים שפקדו את העיר לאורך השנים. בשנת 1955 פקדה את העיר רעידת אדמה עזה שלמעשה החריבה את רוב העיר. בוולוס טיילת שבנויה לאורך קו החוף חוצה את הנמל ממנו ניתן לקחת מעבורת לאיים הסמוכים, מעגן היאכטות, ושובר גלים ארוך שבסופו רחבת תצפית והרבה מקומיים שמטיילים לאורכו.

בכל פעם שפקדנו את העיר דאגנו לכסות אזור אחר בטיילת הארוכה. לאורך הטיילת ניתן להבחין במסילת רכבת עתיקה וצרה, בעבר רכבת זו נסעה בהרים ושימשה להעברת סחורות לעיר וסעתם תושבי הכפר השכן אגריה-agria . במהלך חודשי הקיץ עוברת רכבת אחרת לאורך הטיילת ומסיעה את המשפחות והילדים לאורך קו הים, כאטרקציה תיירותית. עברנו מהטיילת לרחובות העיר אשר רובם הפכו למדרחוב, לאורך הרחובות מצאנו שלל חנויות ,גלידה יוגורט,פאבים, מסעדות ומאפיות נפלאות.

תקופת שהותנו הייתה בפתיחתו של חג הכריסטמס, אשר היה מלווה במופע אורות מידי יום עם רדת החשיכה. פסלי האיילים ,מרכבתו של סנטה קלאוס, העצים לאורך רחובות העיר, הכול מקושט ומואר בצבעים מרהיבים.

לאזור פיליון נסענו מספר פעמים נוסעים לאורך מרכז העיר וולוס  ואז מתחילים לטפס במעלה ההר. פקדנו את האזור מספר פעמים. בפעם ראשונה כשעלינו במעלה ההר, צדה את עיני אריאל ונועם חבורת גורי כלבים. עצרנו את הרכב בצד ונכנסו לשדה הממוקם על צלע הר, נוף עוצר נשימה של כל האזור והעיר וולוס בשדה פגשנו זוג צעיר שמגיע לתת אוכל לכלבים העזובים באזור, שוחחנו איתם בזמן שהילדים שיחקו והאכילו את גורי הכלבים ובאותה הזדמנות גם זכינו לפגוש כוורן מקומי האופן שבו הוא מעשן את הכוורות עם מחטי עץ האורן היתה מרתקת.

משם המשכנו לכפר הראשון במעלה ההר  דרקיה-drakia  , טיילנו ברחובות הצרים של הכפר, נוף מהמם נשקף מהבתים לכיוון חוף הים והעיר , הרחובות הצרים , בתי האבן נותנים תחושת שלווה ושקט נפשי. אזור פיליון עמוס תיירים בחודשי הקיץ, הכפרים הנושקים לחופי הים מצד אחד ומאידך כפרים הנמצאים במעלה ההר, נותנים יופי מיוחד לאזור. הכבישים מאוד צרים לכן צריך הרבה סבלנות וריכוז בנהיגה. אנחנו הגענו כבר אחרי העונה, החורף ניכר בהרים לרוב נסענו בתוך ערפל ליוו את הנסיעה בפסגות למרות זאת לא וויתרנו על ביקור בכפרים זגורה-zagora , אגיוס לואניס –agios loannis  , מארוסי-mouresi . כל הכפרים באזור יפים וכל אחד יש לו את האופי שלו.

בפעם אחרת נסענו לבקר מכר שעבר לפני 15 שנה לאזור והקים את sunrise view מתחם ארוח 10 בתי אבן יפיפים במרחק כמה דקות הליכה מ Chorefto Beach אבל גם נמצא במעלה ההר בטבע פראי ונחלים זורמים, שתחנו יחד קפה מבושל ומשם הוא הוביל אותנו בדרכים קצת אחרות חזרה לעיר וולוס.            

Volos and Pelion Peninsula

30 minutes drive from Almiros along the coastline, on the way there are amazing views and pastoral villages reach we the central city of the area, Volos located next to the Aegean Sea.

A charming city that bears no resemblance to the coups and damage that have befallen the city over the years. In 1955, a strong earthquake struck the city, effectively destroying most of the city. In Volos a promenade built along the shoreline crosses the harbor from which you can take a ferry to the nearby islands, the yacht mooring, and a long breakwater that ends in an observation deck and many locals hiking along it.

Each time we visited the city we made sure to cover a different area on the long promenade. Along the promenade you can see an ancient and narrow railway track, in the past this train traveled in the mountains and was used to transport goods to the city and transported by the residents of the neighboring village Agria During the summer months another train passes along the promenade and transports the families and children along the sea line, as a tourist attraction. We passed from the promenade to the city streets most of which became pedestrian streets, along the streets we found a variety of shops, ice cream yogurt, pubs, restaurants and wonderful bakeries.

Our stay was at the opening of Christmas, which was accompanied by a daily light show as darkness fell. The elk statues, the chariot of Santa Claus, the trees along the streets of the city, all decorated and illuminated in spectacular colors.

To the Pelion area we drove several times traveling along downtown Volos and then starting to climb up the mountain. For the first time when we climbed the mountain, Ariel and Noam sew puppies. We stopped the car on the side and entered a field located on a mountainside, breathtaking view of the whole area and the city of Volos in the field we met a young couple who come to feed the abandoned dogs in the area, we talked to them while the kids played and fed the puppies and at the same time we met a local beekeeper. The hives with the pine needles were fascinating.

From there we continued to the first village up the mountain Drakia, we walked the narrow streets of the village, stunning views from the houses towards the beach and the city, the narrow streets, the stone houses give a feeling of peace and tranquility. The Pelion area is crowded with tourists in the summer months, the villages bordering the beaches on the one hand and on the other hand villages located up the mountain, give a special beauty to the area. The roads are very narrow so need a lot of patience and concentration while driving. We arrived already after the season, the winter is noticeable in the mountains, we traveled in fog, although we did not give up on visiting the villages of Zagora, Agios Loannis, Mouresi. All the villages in the area are beautiful and each has its own character.

Another time we went to visit friends who moved to the area 15 years ago and set up sunrise view a complex of 10 beautiful stone houses a few minutes walk from Chorefto Beach but also located up the mountain in wild nature and flowing streams, we cooked brewed coffee together and from there he led us on slightly different ways back to town Volus.
