מסטופה יצאנו לטייל ברחבי חבל מאני המופלא: הראשון היה מסלול ההליכה שלנו לכיוון כפר הדייגים השכן אגיוס-ניקולאוס- Agios nikilaos. לעיתים דאגנו להיכנס ולשוטט בפאתי הכפר. באחד הימים שהגענו עם הילדים, התהלכנו בין רחובות הכפר, ניתן היה להבחין בסגנון בתי האבן האחידים עם הרבה צמחיה מקיפה, גינה קטנה בה מגדלים ירקות עונתיים, רחובות צרים עם אופי ייחודי. הרחוב המרכזי המוביל לנמל הקטן שופע במסעדות וברים שם התיישבנו אל במסעדה על צד הכביש לאכול מהגירוס המקומי, לאחריו קפצנו לגלדריה המקומית לקינוח.

פגשנו חבורה של יוונים מקומיים לשיחת היכרות קצרה. בין הבתים יש שביל המוביל לנקודת תצפית יפה על הים ומשם אפשר לראות את המסלול המוביל לסטופה. לצד התצפית יש מדרגות היורדות לים. בקצה נפרס שטח סלעי יפה ומיוחד ,ממנו ניתן לרדת ישר למים העמוקים , לצערנו היום היה סגרירי ורעיון הקפיצה למים ירד מהפרק.  

בהמשך הכביש הראשי מגיעים לכפר נוסף אגיוס דמטריוס – Agios dimitrios  – כפר נחמד עם הרבה בתים יפים, נוף המשקיף על ההרים המקיפים אותו ומצד שני נוף הים הפתוח. 

בשני הכפרים מומלץ להחנות את הרכב ולעשות סיבוב רגלי, הכפרים אינם גדולים. האווירה שיש במקום ניתן לספוג רק שהולכים בין הסמטאות ולתצפיות.

קרדמילי- kardamili כפר מופלא  שבקרנו בו, במרחק של 20 דקות נסיעה לכיוון קלמטה מגיעים אל הכפר כבר בכניסה יש תחושה שהמקום מיוחד במינו. החננו את האוטו ויצאנו לטיול רגלי הכפר אינו גדול אך משתרע על שטח רחב, יש בו תושבים מקומיים אך נראה כי רובו מיועד לנופש. הבנייה ייחודית לאזור והבתים מאוד יפים. בין הרחובות תוכלו למצוא שפע של בתי קפה, מסעדות וברים מקומיים. חוף הים מאוד יפה, אך מסולע ובליבו אי קטן אליו ניתן לשחות. 

קלמטה- kalamata העיר המרכזית ממחוז מסינייה Messinia המשממשת כבירתו המנהלתית של המחוז היא גם עיר נמל מהחשובות בים התיכון. היוונים מאמינים שהזיתים ושמן הזית משם הם הטובים בעולם וידועים בטעמם המיוחד. לאורך הדרך משני הצדדים הנוף מכוסה מטעי זיתים. נסיעה של שעה וחצי בכבישים צרים בין כפרים,הרים ומטעים עם נופים וצבעים משתנים.

טירת העיר קלמטה ממוקמת על גבעה המשקיפה על העיר ועל מפרץ מסיניאה. מומלץ להגיע לשיטוט רגלי בטירה. שרידי החומות, מדרגות האבן והנוף הנהדר של המפרץ. השיטוט הרגלי מוביל לעיר העתיקה היושבת למרגלות הטירה.
האזור הישן של העיר עבר התחדשות, ברחובות הצרים הבנויים ממבני רכבות ,החנויות צמודות אחת לשנייה. נראה כי בעבר שמשו מחסנים ובתי מלאכה. כיום האזור השתנה את המחסנים ובתי המלאכה החליפו מעדניות,מאפיות ,בתי קפה וחנויות אופנה. שוטטנו ברחובות והעפנו מבטינו בשלל החנויות, גם דאגנו להפסקת קפה בתוספת המאפים המקומיים. בצידו השני של הרחוב נמצא המדרחוב הראשי של העיר בוא נמצאות כל חנויות האופנה החדשות והקניונים. המקום עמוס בסופי שבוע ,הרבה חברה צעירים ומשפחות לצד פנסיונרים הפוקדים את הטברנות המקומיות.

נהננו לסרוק את הרחובות עד שהגענו לכיכר המרכזית של הכנסייה. הילדים הפכו את מעקה המדרגות למגלשה אתגרית. את סיום ביקורנו בעיר עשינו בנסיעה לאורך הטיילת של העיר. 

קבלנו המלצה לבקר במפרץ לימאני Limeni המופלא. הנסיעה בין כפריים ציוריים בהרים ושינוי מוחלט של מזג אוויר היא חוויה בפני עצמה. כאשר עוברים לצידו השני של ההר, נפתח נוף מרהיב של המפרץ בין ההרים. יורדים במורד הכביש ומגיעים לאזור המפרץ, יש שני כפרים צמודים.  המקום מיועד בעיקר לתיירות . מסביב התחלות בנייה חדשות של מקומות לינה . המקום קסום, בעיקר למחפשים התנתקות ושקט.  מהכפר לימאני ממשיכים עם הכביש לכיוון המערה של דירוס Cave of diros : נסיעה של כמה ק"מ תוביל אתכם למפרץ של מערת הנטיפים לצערנו המקום היה סגור בעקבות שיפוצים וסגר, אך ממה שהבנו מדובר בשייט מושלם בסירה במי בטורקיז בתוך מערת נטיפים וזקיפים, שנוצרו לפני מיליוני שנים, כאשר הים, נמצא במרחק מטרים ספורים משם. זו בהחלט חוויה שלא כדאי להחמיץ

גיטייו- Gytheio – עיירה ציורית הנמצאת בצד השני של "הלשון השנייה". כאשר הגענו מצאנו עיירה השוכנת למרגלות ההר והים. מרכז העיר נמצא בסמוך למרינה ולמגדלור . שוטטנו בעיר וצעדנו לכיוון המגדלור. בדרך המובילה למגדלור היא פארק מוצל, שכיף לבוא לטייל בו, קנינו קפה,שוקו ומגוון מאפים ויצאנו לפיקניק קטן בסמוך למגדלור. בינתיים  הרוח החלה להתגבר ונהיה קריר. החלטנו שזה הזמן לחזור לסטופה. הפעם החלטנו לחזור בדרכים הצדדיות, מצאנו את עצמנו נוסעים בין כרמי זית, כפרים עתיקים ,דרכים מוזרות ולבסוף מצאנו את עצמנו  חוברים לכביש הראשי. הרעיון מצא חן בעינינו ואכן בהמשך הדרך החלטנו להיכנס ללב ליבם של אחד הכפרים הנמצאים על ההר הצופה של סטופה והאזור. הדרך הייתה שוב מפותלת אך לבסוף מצאנו את עצמנו בכרמי הזיתים של הכפר אגיוס דמטריוס. בהגיענו לאזור החלה עונת המסיק, ולכן לכל אורך הכרמים עבדו בעלי הכרמים בשטח. עצרנו ליד אחד הכרמים. זוג נחמד הסתכל עלינו והתחלנו בשיחה, הם היו מאוד נחמדים, אף הציעו לילדים להתנסות ולאחוז במכשיר שמנער את ענפי הזית. משם חזרנו הביתה וגילינו יעל שכחה את המפתח בדירה, למזלנו הרב הילדות טיפסו מהמרפסת ופתחו לנו את הבית מבפנים. 

Mysterious Mani Region

From Stupa we use to walk the rode to the neighboring fishing village Agios nikilaos. one after noon we walked through the streets of the village, could not notice the style of the uniform houses with a lot of extensive plants, small garden to grow seasonal vegetables, narrow streets with a unique character. The main plaza leading to the small harbor abounds in restaurants and bars where we sat down at a restaurant on the side of the road to eat from the local gyrus, after which we hopped into the local ice cream shop for dessert. We met a bunch of Greeks online for a brief introductory talk. Between the houses there is a path leading to a beautiful vantage point on the sea and from there you can see the route leading to the stupa. The observation side has stairs going down to the sea, a beautiful and special rocky area was spread out, it possible to go straight into the deep water, unfortunately today it was rainy and the idea of ​​jumping into the water fell out of place.

Further down the main road you come to another village Agios Dimitrios – a nice village with many beautiful houses, a view overlooking the mountains that surround it and on the other hand the open sea view.

In both villages it is recommended to park the vehicle and take a walk to feel The atmosphere.

kardamili is a wonderful village that we visited, after 20 minute drive towards Kalamata you arrive at the village the minute you enter there is a feeling that the place is unique. We parked the car and went for a walk. The village is not large but covers a large area. The houses construction is unique to the area and the very beautiful. Between the streets we found plenty of cafes, restaurants and local bars. The beach is a bit rocky but very beautiful.

Kalamata The central city belongs to the province of Messenia and serves as the administrative capital of the province and is also one of the most important port cities in the Mediterranean. The believe that olives and olive oil from Kalamata are the best and well known for their special taste. Definitely along the way on the right and leftyou can see full olive trees covers the area. fron stoupa it's anice hour and half drive on narrow roads between villages, mountains and plantation with special and beautiful changing landscapes and colors.

Kalamata Castle is located on a hill overlooking the city and Gulf of Messenia. It is recommended to take a walking tour of the castle. The remains of the walls give a great view of the bay. The walking tour leads to the old town that sits at the foot of the castle.
The old area of ​​the city is renew, in the narrow streets differences, the shops are adjacent to each other. Today the area has changed warehouses and workshops have replaced delicacies, bakeries, cafes and fashion stores. We wandered the streets and glanced at the variety of arts, we also took care of a coffee break with the addition of local pastries. On the other side of the plaza is the city's main pedestrian mall. you can find all the new popular fashion stores. The place is busy on weekends, with a lot of young company and retired party families visiting the local taverns. We enjoyed scanning the expanses, until we reached the main square of the local church. The kids turned the railing along the stairs into a challenging slide. The end of our visit to the city we did along the lengths of the city promenade.

We received a recommendation to visit the wonderful Limani Bay. the veiw Switching between villages in the mountains and a when you Passing to the other side of the mountain, a spectacular view of the bay opens up between the mountains. Going down the road and reaching the bay area, there are two adjacent villages. The place is mainly for tourism. The place is magical, especially for those looking for disengagement and quiet. From the village of Limani continue with the road in the direction of Diros Cave: Unfortunately the place was closed due to renovations and closure, but from what we understand It is the beautiful and dramatic formations of stalactites and stalagmites, formed millions of years ago, when the sea, located just a few meters away

Gytheio a picturesque town located on the other side of the "second tongue". The city center is close to the marina and lighthouse. We wandered around the city and walked towards the lighthouse. On the way to the lighthouse is a green park, which is fun to come and walk in, we bought coffee, chocolate and a variety of pastries and went out for a small picnic near the lighthouse.

Meanwhile the wind began to pick up and get cooler. We decided it was time to head back to Stoupa. This time we decided to go back on the side roads, we found ourselves traveling among olive groves, ancient villages, strange roads and finally we found ourselves connecting to the main road. We liked the idea and indeed further down the road we decided to enter the heart of one of the villages located on the viewing mountain of the area. The road was Steep but we found ourselves in the olive groves of the village Agios Demetrius. When we arrived in the area it was the olives harvest season, everything along the way owners worked in the field. We stopped near one of the groves a nice couple looked at us and started a conversation, they were very nice, even offered the kids to experiment and grab device that shakes the olive branches. From there we returned home and found Yael forgot the key in the apartment, luckily for us the girls climbed from the balcony and opened the house for us from the inside.
